Mixed Media
What is Mixed Media?
Mixed media is a form of art that involves multiple mediums in one project. It uses multiple forms of art and mixed media projects often have three or more layers. Photography can be included in many ways. A photo could be the base of the project and other mediums could be layered over the photo or the photo could be cut up and incorporated into the project and much more. There are not many limitations to a "mixed media" peice.

My Inspiration
After visiting the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, I had taken several pictures of flowers and decided to make flowers an ongoing theme throughout my final pieces. I looked into mixed media photography projects involving flowers on Pinterest and found several ideas I liked. One project that stood out to me was having a black and white photo with the focus of the image being in color. I also found a project with the base layer was a black and white photo and had flowers over the image to give the illusion of a dress and headpiece made of flowers

My process
I started my project with my base layer which was my black and white photo. Next, I plucked leaves and gave them a light dusting of gold spray paint. I glued them onto the outside of my black and white photo to frame the photo. I then cut out the color print of the flower and glued it over the black and white flower on the base layer. I researched ways to make paper flowers and found one that I liked. After following the instructions and making the flowers, I lightly sprayed them with the same gold spray paint I used on the leaves. I attached them over the leaves on my final and the project was complete.
