I started by looking into ways of using both a black and white photo and a color photo in a project. I came across a photo where the photo was split into color on one side and black and white on the other. I liked how it compared the two but still appeared as one photo. I did not want to simply split the photo in half on photoshop and change half to be in black and white so I tried to use this idea in a more eleaborate way.
I got the idea to create strips from the carpeting in the third-floor tower. I noticed the way the lighter and darker colors looked and was inspired to replicate that with my photo and color. I printed my black and white photo, cut my color print into strips, and placed them over the corresponding parts of the black and white photo.
